C\u2019est la fragilit\u00e9 d&#8217;une surface peinte qui m\u2019attire. Regarder une toile dans les mus\u00e9es et constater les effets de la lumi\u00e8re qui assombrissent la pellicule de peinture, ou les changements atmosph\u00e9riques qui craquellent sa surface, est une double exp\u00e9rience pour moi. Je suis confront\u00e9 \u00e0 un sentiment de d\u00e9ception d\u00fb \u00e0 la quasi-destruction de l\u2019image, \u00e0 l\u2019origine soigneusement construite, et en m\u00eame temps travers\u00e9 par l\u2019exp\u00e9rience de la naissance d\u2019un nouvel objet d\u00fb cette fois au passage du temps, avec ses traumatismes et ses d\u00e9fauts.<br><br>Ainsi, ma derni\u00e8re exposition personnelle \u00e0 La Serre, Saint-\u00c9tienne a explor\u00e9 les sujets de l&#8217;erosion et de la destruction de multiples fa\u00e7ons visuelles et dimensionnelles. La premi\u00e8re partie de cette exposition a \u00e9t\u00e9 l\u2019ex\u00e9cution de la peinture sur des surfaces ayant t\u00e9moign\u00e9es d\u2019une accumulation de mati\u00e8re, suivi par un temps de l\u2019alt\u00e9ration, qui a fait place enfin \u00e0 l\u2019effacement. \u00c0 la fin des cinq semaines de cette exposition, les \u0153uvres amen\u00e9es sur place sont parties, mais surtout six interventions in situ ont \u00e9t\u00e9 compl\u00e8tement effac\u00e9es par plusieurs couches de peinture blanche ou oblit\u00e9r\u00e9es totalement de leurs supports. Cette partie de l\u2019exposition fut capitale, car elle a non seulement compl\u00e9t\u00e9 le processus de la d\u00e9gradation, mais elle a aussi mis en relief la nature unique, transitoire et fragile de plus de la moiti\u00e9 des pi\u00e8ces montr\u00e9es.<br><br>Afin de continuer ma recherche de plasticien, les projets \u00e0 venir vont exp\u00e9rimenter la mise en sc\u00e8ne de l\u2019\u00e9rosion de l\u2019image \u00e0 travers diff\u00e9rentes formes et espaces, conduisant ainsi les observateurs vers des interventions qui se fixent, se dissipent, s\u2019effacent puis enfin disparaissent ne laissant place qu\u2019au vestige, t\u00e9moin de leur passage \u00e9ph\u00e9m\u00e8re.<br><br><br>  Zach Mitlas, septembre 2017 <br> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br> \/<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n(EN)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Project presentation<\/strong>    <br><br> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\nA\nfascination with the creative potential of natural and intentional\ndegradations of the image and object constitutes a major part of my\npainting project. It is the fragile nature of the painted surface\nthat is captivating to me. To see paintings in museums and to witness\nthe damaging effects of light that blacken their paint film or the\nchanging atmospheric conditions that crack the painting\u2019s surface\nis an experience that brings up mixed responses. On the one hand, one\nis confronted with disappointment due to the partial destruction of\nthe image, which in its time was carefully crafted. On the other,\nthere is an exciting aspect about the birth of a new object, this\ntime due to the passage of time, including the new form\u2019s trauma\nand defects. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\nWith\nthis in mind, my last solo show for La Serre, Saint-\u00c9tienne\nexplored the subjects of erosion and destruction in various ways\nvisually and dimensionally. The first part of this show consisted in\nthe execution of paintings on supports that demonstrated an\naccumulation of material, followed by a series of degradations, which\nthen gave way to various erasures. At the end of five weeks for this\nshow, the pieces initially brought to the space left, but most\nimportantly six in situ interventions were erased by several layers\nof whitewash and even completely scraped off from their support. This\nelement of the show was essential, because it not only completed, in\na sense, the process of erosion, but it also brought to the forefront\nthe unique, transitory and fragile nature of the work presented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> As a continuation of my research as an artist, upcoming projects will investigate the staging of the erosion of images, sharing with the viewer forms which are brought together, taken apart, dissipated and vanished, only to leave a place for their vestige, just proof of their temporary existence.  <br><br><br>  Zach Mitlas, September 2017   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pr\u00e9sentation du projet La fascination du pouvoir cr\u00e9ateur de la d\u00e9gradation naturelle ou intentionnelle de l\u2019image et de l&#8217;objet constitue la majeure partie de mon projet de peintre.
